Private Label Bronze: Origin Marking and Your Brand on Castings
Where Made in Vietnam goes on a cast bronze piece, cast-in versus label, putting your own mark on castings, and what the foundry needs from you.
On cast bronze, the most durable place for both "Made in Vietnam" and your own brand is the base, cast into the pattern so it can't be polished or peeled off. Labels and stamps are quicker but less permanent. Most import markets expect the country of origin to be marked legibly and permanently on the article or, in some cases, on its packaging. The exact rule for your product is a question for your customs broker, not for us. Send vector artwork and we cut your mark into the pattern. A private pattern is cast only for you.
Does every piece need an origin mark?
As a general principle, many import markets, including the United States, expect imported goods to show their country of origin to the final buyer in a way that is legible and hard to remove. Some goods may be marked on the container instead of the article. Whether your pieces qualify depends on the product and on how it reaches the end customer. That is a classification and marking question for your customs broker. Settle it before the pattern is made, because a cast mark is decided at the pattern stage.
What we can say from the foundry side: a mark on every piece avoids the argument, and a cast mark is the one that survives polishing, patina and years on an altar.

We cast marks rather than stamp them afterwards as standard. Our specifications page lists this under marking.
Where can the mark go on an altar piece?
On altar ware, the mark belongs where the customer does not see it once the piece is in place:
- Censer: under the base, or inside the foot ring
- Cranes: under the tortoise base, never on the bird
- Candlesticks and incense bowls: under the base
- Statues: under the plinth, or on the back of the plinth
- Plaques: on the back, next to the fixings
A mark on a visible face of an altar piece reads as a price sticker to a Vietnamese customer. Keep the front clean.
Can our brand sit beside Made in Vietnam?
Yes. A common layout is your logo or name above, and "Made in Vietnam" below, cast into the same base. Ask your broker whether your brand name could mislead a buyer about where the piece was made, for example if it contains the name of another country. Then keep the origin statement as prominent as the rules require.
What artwork does the foundry need?
- A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF with outlined text) of your mark
- The exact wording and spelling of the origin statement you want
- The size you want it cast at, and whether raised or recessed
- Which pieces carry it, and where on each piece

Who owns a logo die?
A pattern or insert made for your mark is your tooling. It is kept on our shelf, indexed to your account, and used only for your orders. If you ask in writing, we return it or destroy it and send you a photograph. The full terms are on our OEM and tooling page, and the product side is on custom and OEM casting.
Frequently asked questions
Is a sticker enough?
For the retail label, yes. As the only origin mark, ask your broker. On bronze that will be cleaned and polished for years, we recommend a cast mark as well.
Can our brand replace the foundry's name?
Yes. On private-label work we cast your mark and not ours. The export documents still name the exporter. See export documents for a bronze order.
Do we mark the box or the piece?
The piece, permanently, is the safe default. The carton carries the shipping marks and, if you wish, your retail packaging design.
Can we change the logo later?
Yes. A new mark means a new insert or a change to the pattern, quoted before we start. Tell us before the next order is cast, not after.
How are multi-piece sets marked?
Each piece carries the mark, so a set split in a warehouse or sold as a replacement still carries its origin.
