How a figure is commissioned
From a file or a photograph to a finished casting
The cleanest route is a 3D file: we print or mill a pattern from it, take a mould and cast. Where there is no file we work from a maquette you send, or from photographs — front, side and three-quarter views in daylight, with something of known size in the frame for scale. Our modeller builds the pattern and sends photographs for your approval before any metal is poured.
For editions, the pattern is kept and numbered so the tenth casting matches the first. For a single commissioned piece the pattern is still kept, in case the client later wants a companion or a replacement.
Scale and assembly
What changes as the piece gets bigger
- Up to about 60 cm — cast in one piece, cartoned, ships with ordinary decorative goods.
- 60–150 cm — usually cast in two or three sections and joined, then chased so the joint does not read. Crated.
- Above 150 cm — sectional casting, an internal armature where needed, and a site drawing for fixing. Quote includes crating and lifting points.
Weight rises faster than height: doubling the height of a figure multiplies the bronze in it by roughly eight. Ask for the estimated cast weight early, because it drives both your freight cost and your customer's installation.
Finishing
Patina is a decision, not a default
Antique patina is the familiar dark brown-green of temple bronze. Reinforced patina is the same colour with a harder protective layer for pieces that will be handled or cleaned often. Polished bronze reads as modern and shows every fingerprint. Outdoor pieces are lacquered; by the sea, they need re-waxing on a schedule and we will say so in writing rather than let a client be surprised.
Colour is always matched against a signed-off sample. If your order mixes statues with altar pieces or plaques, we match across the whole order — that is the advantage of one finishing shop.

Before you order
Do you cast religious figures other than Vietnamese ones?
Yes. The method does not care about the subject; what matters is the quality of the pattern. Send reference images or a file and we will tell you honestly whether our modeller can do the subject justice.
Can you copy a statue we already sell?
We will cast from your own pattern, your file, or a sample that is yours to reproduce. We do not copy another maker's protected design, and we will say so if that is what a request amounts to.
What does a portrait bust need from us?
Photographs from several angles in even light, any measurements you have, and a clear statement of the finish. Expect one round of pattern photographs for approval before casting.
